Temporary COVID-19 testing centre complete at University of Nottingham

G F Tomlinson has completed works for the transformation of the University of Nottingham David Ross Sports Hall into a temporary COVID testing centre – enabling students to be tested early December, before they returned home for Christmas.

Works involved the laying of temporary flooring, erection of fencing and crowd barriers, erection of testing booths, assisting with furniture installation and temporary lighting.

Students made use of the centre from 3rd to 9th of December, and testing has now finished – allowing the hall to be placed in quarantine before being dismantled.

Andy Kay, construction manager at G F Tomlinson, said: “Our team responded extremely rapidly to procure the materials and resources necessary in order to meet strict deadlines for this project, enabling us to complete the transformation in just one week.

“The testing is now complete, allowing students to return home safely for the Christmas period – and we are happy to have facilitated a pivotal step in controlling the spread of COVID-19. Well done to the team for their hard work on such an important project.”
