Nottingham Free School
The project involved remodelling the existing Courtaulds building on Haydn Road to provide a modern secondary school facility comprising classrooms, science laboratories, art rooms, an assembly hall, catering facilities, staff offices, a reception area, a multi use games area, outside recreational space and staff parking.
When construction works commenced, the school was already operational with teachers and support staff and 90 year 7 students. Now completed, this project has created 587 new student places for when the school reaches capacity.
The project was undertaken on a tight 36 week programme and practical completion was achieved three weeks ahead of schedule. The school remained fully operational while works were undertaken. The G F Tomlinson team worked closely with the client and end users during the pre construction phase to develop a thorough strategy for delivering the works in and around the live school building whilst minimising the impact of the construction activities on the day-to-day running of the school.
Contract Period: 37 weeks
“Throughout the whole building project G F Tomlinson have been a pleasure to work with. All staff conducted themselves in a courteous, professional manner. The project team had a calm, measures approach and offered good advise and useful suggestions for areas outside my own expertise. Their thoughtful attitude and high expectations have been an enormous help to me personally and led to a quality end result and a building we all love working in.”
Jenny Brown, Head of Nottingham Free School
