
Midlands based building and construction specialist GF Tomlinson Building Limited were proud sponsors of this years Peak Awards, held at The Joseph Wright Centre, Derby on Thursday 19th July 2007.
GF Tomlinson sponsored The Building Services Learner of the Year award and Roy Collis, Managing Director was pleased to present plumbing student Aaron Maperley with the award.
Aaron is on a plumbing course at Masons Place, one of Derby College’s learning facilities. He demonstrated an outstanding level commitment to his programme and has recently gone on to prove his plumbing skills further by winning the Leadwork category in the Regional BPEC competition in June, which gives him an automatic entry into the National Final. BPEC is the training organisation for the Plumbing Industry and run annual competitions for plumbing apprentices throughout the UK.
GF Tomlinson have recently started work on the construction of Derby College’s £2.4m Joseph Wright extension to accommodate a new learning facility. This four storey extension to the existing college comprises new classrooms, welfare facilities and a lift enclosure to three floors. A new IT room will be located in the basement of the building linked by glazed walkways.
Roy Collis commented “GF Tomlinson Building Limited has vast experience of working in the educational sector and we are pleased to sponsor these awards for local young adults. It clearly demonstrates that if we invest in the students they can achieve their ambition. We feel it very important to support the students who select a trade to study and hopefully go on to the future and keep these vital trades in the construction industry alive”.
