Midlands based construction contractor G F Tomlinson Building have successfully completed the development of new library facilities in Mickleover, Derbyshire.

The handover ceremony was attended by Derby City Council’s Assistant Director: Cultural Services, Ray Rippingale; Head of Library Services, David Potton; Assistant Head of Library Services, Fran Renwick; Derby City Council Architect, Jenny Cole and Jenny Shaw, Mickleover Library Manager and G F Tomlinson Building Ltd Managing Director Roy Collis.

Mickleover Library has been situated on Station Road since just after the Second World War. This new scheme, funded by Derby City Council, will now see this new facility in the heart of Mickleover Village serve the local community with all the existing library services, together with computers, internet access, and a community meeting room for local groups.

David Potton, Head of Library Services for Derby City Council said, ‘We are delighted to take possession of this magnificent building, which will transform library services in the Mickleover area. We now look forward to opening the library to the public on Thursday, 12 July.’

Roy Collis, Managing Director of G F Tomlinson commented, ‘Tomlinson’s are very pleased to have been part of this project, we hope it will provide an excellent source of learning and education to the local community for many years to come and we are delighted to use our extensive expertise as a stakeholder on this education related project’
