19/05/2009 - tomlinson book the trend in community engagement!
February 2009 saw GF Tomlinson build on their portfolio of projects undertaken for Wolverhampton City Council with the onset of the Wednesfield Library project.
Funded by the Big Lottery’s Community Library Fund, the project will allow for greatly extended library facilities, as well as a set of community meeting rooms and offices for Wednesfield Neighbourhood Management.
The library project has forged a close relationship with local school, Wodensfield Primary, whose pupils are Library Champions. The close relationship led to pupils, library employees, Big Lottery representatives and Council members alike attending the Tomlinson site to take part in various activities, including a site walk round and looking at future plans.
Phil Walker, Construction Director of GF Tomlinson Birmingham Ltd, said “It is great for the children to be a part of the project, which will provide them with a building that can be used by them for many years to come. Integrating the community in this way allows us to ensure that what we are producing a building that meets their expectations. ”
