Students Gain a Practical Understanding

G F Tomlinson are well underway with the construction of the new £2m Young People’s Centre at the core of the Eastwood community in Nottinghamshire, providing a spacious social space, coffee bar, meeting room, dance studio, music recording studio, offices and computer workspaces.

The facility will offer young people a state of the art community centre, which will be a safe place to socialise with friends after school, learn new skills or simply watch movies and use the internet.

G F Tomlinson’s Site Manager Tony Raven is working in close liaison with the students from ‘Eastwood Comprehensive School’ who are studying towards at BTEC Level 2 in construction. He has organised a series of site tours for the students so that they can follow the construction process of their new centre from conception to completion.

Tony has also recently conducted a classroom presentation to the students to help them gain a practical understanding of the construction process required to build their new centre. This was well received by the students and they are looking forward to their next site visit to see the progress of the centre.
