An official ‘ground breaking’ ceremony was held recently at Kingstanding to mark the successful transition from planning to reality of the new College Road Medical Centre, which will provide improved medical facilities to the local community.
The state of the art, two storey building boasts an innovative and flexible design that meets the highest environmental standards, providing local people with a modern medical centre and pharmacy. The building’s energy efficient design will feature state-of-the-art systems for heating, lighting and hot water and is also set to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
The ceremony was attended by members of Doctor Horton’s Practice, representatives from Primary Care Trust, the Client’s representatives Poole Dick Associates, funders Lloyds TSB, constructors G F Tomlinson and their architects Taylor Young.
Phil Walker, Construction Director for G F Tomlinson said: “G F Tomlinson are very excited about their involvement in this sustainable project. We have extensive experience on schemes of this nature and look forward to creating an environmentally friendly, first class health facility for the local community.”
The new practice will be open to public at the end of 2011.
