Sensitive restoration of Grade II Listed former Devonshire Royal Hospital to form the University of Derby’s International School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Works to this historic site, originally built in 1785, comprised external stone repairs, re-roofing and leadwork, window and glazing repairs, damp proof treatment, timber repairs and replacements, plastering, new ceiling (including ornate plaster repairs), new floors, new M&E system, installation of two new lifts and complete redecoration.

Contract Period: 50 weeks

A collaborative approach ensured the works were executed to a high quality standard. Officially recognised for its outstanding quality workmanship by RIBA and RICS at a regional and national level. The finished scheme was opened by The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall. Awards for this restoration include, RIBA International Conservation Commendation, RICS Regional Project of the Year Award, National Building Conservation Commendation Award and the East Midlands Joint Consultative Committee Craftsmanship Award.
