Technical Trainees

Fancy a career in Construction or Civil Engineering in the Midlands? At G F Tomlinsons we are very committed to the future of the construction industry and are keen to offer young people the opportunity to join our 4 year Management Training Programme. The scheme concentrates on recruiting and training the next generation of high calibre young professionals/operatives.

Over the first three years successful candidates will spend allocated durations within various departments, including Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Contracts Management and many more, as well as spending time on site performing a range of duties.The final year will be spent in a chosen field of specialisation, developing the necessary skills to become that construction professional.

We normally interview candidates in June/July with a view to an appointment by 1st September, in readiness for the start of the College academic year.

Apprenticeships

Our three year apprenticeships in Joinery or Bricklaying allow you to learn a real construction trade working alongside our skilled and experienced craft people, whilst studying on a City and Guilds course in your chosen craft.

We normally interview candidates who have passed an assessment exam in June/July with a view to an appointment by 1st September, in readiness for the start of the College academic year.

Placement Opportunities

Each year G F Tomlinson offers a small number of sandwich placements which are open to undergraduate students taking degree courses or equivalent in Building Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.

The placement year is a great chance to show your potential and could lead to a job offer after graduation, providing the avenue for you to carve out your own Construction or Civil engineering career.

Successful applicants will demonstrate enthusiasm, a drive for success and a willingness to learn.
